FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find answers to the most important questions about animal physiotherapy and my practice.

General

What exactly does an animal physiotherapist do?
As an animal physiotherapist, I treat movement disorders, pain and orthopedic as well as neurological conditions in animals. I work with various therapy forms such as manual therapy, massage, electrotherapy and targeted exercises.
Which animals do you treat?
I treat dogs, horses, cats and small pets. Each animal species has its own particularities that I take into account during therapy.
Do I need a referral from a veterinarian?
No, a referral is not necessary. However, I recommend bringing any existing findings and diagnoses. For certain therapies (e.g. leech therapy), I work closely with the treating veterinarian.

Treatment & Process

How long does a treatment take?
The initial appointment takes approx. 60–120 minutes (depending on the animal species), as a detailed history and assessment takes place. Follow-up appointments take approx. 45–75 minutes.
How often does my animal need treatment?
That depends on the findings and the condition. For acute problems, 1–2 treatments per week are often recommended, for chronic conditions, appointments every 2–4 weeks are usually sufficient.
Do you come to my home?
Yes! I am a mobile practice and come to your home or stable. Your animal stays in its familiar environment, which makes the treatment much more relaxed.

Costs & Organization

What does a treatment cost?
You can find the prices on my pricing page. An initial appointment starts at €85 (cats/small pets) to €120 (horses). Follow-up appointments are less expensive.
Does pet insurance cover the costs?
Some pet insurance policies cover the costs for animal physiotherapy in whole or in part. Please check with your insurance company in advance.
How can I pay?
Payment is due immediately after treatment, by cash or bank transfer.
